Spike Lee is a favorite director to many in the black community. His ability to convey themes of urban diaspora heroics and commonplace blackalities have solidified him as the director of an ethnic group. His influence has transcended film , culture, fashion, marketing and hip-hop. Skyzoo pays tribute to Mr. Lee on, Spike Lee Was My Hero, via rapid fire melodic spit styles. He does a succinct job blending personal experience from Bed Stuy. NYC with affectionate allusions to the peliculas that have made the Director famous. By employing Kweli, you add BK grounding to a track that needs more than just Sky to help it accurately paint the landscape. Kweli adds some Basquiat lyrically to Skyzoo’s Harring. Produced by Tall Black Guy, the thematic drums and anthem nature of the instrumentation create a track that drives and hypes.
